Building Africa's central hub for refugee-led innovation and sustainable impact since 2023.
RECAN (Refugee Changemakers Network) was established in 2023 with a bold vision: to transform how the world sees and supports refugee communities. We believe refugees are not merely beneficiaries of aid, but powerful agents of change with innovative ideas, entrepreneurial spirit, and the determination to build better futures.
Operating across multiple African countries, RECAN serves as the connective tissue linking refugee-led organizations (RLOs), social entrepreneurs, donors, and development partners. Our ecosystem approach ensures that support reaches those who need it most while building sustainable pathways for long-term impact.
To foster a thriving refugee community, wherein Refugees themselves emerge as the key catalyst for the development of their respective communities in multiple sectors.
To provide RLOs and entrepreneurs with necessary resources, facilitating valuable connections, capacity building opportunities, and linkage to market and funding opportunities that enable them to build a thriving and sustainable refugee community.
Dignity, collaboration, innovation, transparency, and unwavering commitment to refugee leadership in all aspects of our work.
RECAN operates on an ecosystem model that recognizes refugee-led initiatives don't exist in isolation. Success requires a supportive network of resources, relationships, and opportunities working together.
Linking RLOs with donors, partners, and each other across borders.
Building skills, knowledge, and organizational capacity.
